Let's define Sales Reversal
A sale is reversed when a purchase is reversed by a payment provider (such as a payment gateway or bank) through a credit card or PayPal account. Reversals are applied by the payment provider and processed according to their policies. As a writer, your statement will be updated to reflect the reverse transaction.
A sale is not the opposite of a return. According to our refund policy, a refund can only be processed by Envato.
Reasons for Sales Reversal in The Marketplace
There are several reasons why the opposite can occur, but two broad groups are:
- The transaction was disputed by a payment gateway (such as PayPal or credit card). This can happen for a number of reasons, such as the payment gateway's customer reporting the transaction as fraudulent.
- The transaction was disputed by the customer with their provider as they felt they somehow did not get what they paid for.
We have an active anti-fraud team and system to handle customers with unknown transactions.
More information about sales reversals can be found in your statement. Locate the sales reverse position in the statement line and hover over the 'Info' tooltip in the right-hand column to display the corresponding purchase code.
What Envato does, When Sales Reversal Happens
When a reversal occurs, Envato will:
- Immediately deactivate the Envato account from which the purchase was made;
- Remove the item from the customer's download page;
- The purchase code for the item is invalid.
Envato takes privacy and security seriously while adhering to industry standards and practices.
Sales churn is a part of running any kind of business online, but Envato actively and proactively monitors and minimizes the counters.
